ESPNCricinfo’s Cameron Ponsonby described West Indies batsman Nkrumah Bonner’s century as a “nine hour epic.” This made for a classic Test match batting display from the Men in Maroon, replying to England’s first innings total of 311. At the end of Day 3, West Indies were 373 for 9 – a 62 run lead.
Bonner’s 123 off 355 balls was his second Test century, the first also being scored at the same venue, the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The batsman spoke with Cricket West Indies Media after the match. In the short conversation, he mentioned the hours and hours he used to bat on the machine at the now defunct High Performance Centre in Barbados.
West Indies will be hoping that last pair of Veerasammy Permaul and Jayden Seales can score at least another 38 runs, to give their team a psychological advantage of a 100-run lead on Day 4.
The three-match Apex Test series between England and the West Indies began on 8th March 2022. The second Test will be played in Barbados from 16th – 20th March 2022, with the final Test heading to Grenada from 24th – 28th March 2022.
