Anisa Mohammed interview after named in ICC Women’s ODI team of the Year

I must confess….if you asked me to name the members of the West Indies Women’s cricket team, I’d only be able to name a few. Anisa Mohammed is one, and that’s because she has been a part of the line up for over 16 years. Her stats are impressive. She finished 2021 as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets with at an average of 18.00. Along with teammate Hayley Matthews, Mohammed was named in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s ODI Team Of The Year.

Ahead of the start of the away series against South Africa, the affable Mohammed spoke to journalists on wide-ranging topics, including the approaching milestone for her, and what it’s like to have Afy Fletcher back after Maternity Leave. She also weighed in on her desire for the Women’s team to get more respect. I promised to do my part. This post is the start. Here is the first part of the interview.

In the second part of the interview, Anisa talks about the approaching milestone of 300 international wickets, and what it is like to have Courtney Walsh as coach.
