Jason Holder: “We just didn’t bat well”

Former West Indies Test captain Jason Holder, has agreed with others whose assessment of the 1st Test loss to South Africa was a failure of the batsmen. Asked during a press conference on June 15, 2021 to assess the conditions, “I think the conditions didn’t change much over the course of the game. We just didn’t bat well and I don’t think it has anything to do with the conditions. Whether we bat first or second, we just didn’t bat well.”

He further said a lot of it was indecision and that the batsmen have to be more decisive about what balls they played or left. “We just weren’t good enough,” he said matter-of-factly.
